Biography
-
Leon Edler is a multifaceted cartoonist, writer, and illustrator whose artistic journey is deeply rooted in the world of comedy. Drawing inspiration from classic 1950s radio comedies like "Hancock's Half Hour" to beloved U.S. sitcoms such as "Dr. Katz," "Larry Sanders," and "Seinfeld," Leon views himself more as a writer, enjoying the creation of ideas and sketches rather than the final artwork. Over the past decade, he has primarily produced digital work, but recently he has expanded his repertoire while contributing to a weekly column for the New York Times, experimenting with painting, drawing, and various other techniques. Leon has also creatively transformed everyday objects such as desk fans, toasters, and blenders into animated sculptures, projects that have brought him significant personal satisfaction.

Leon's work has been recognized by prestigious organizations like the Society of Illustrators, The Society of Publication Designers, American Illustration, and 3x3, and has been exhibited across the UK, Europe, and the US. As a co-founder of RoomFifty.com, Leon helps bring exceptional art from some of the world's leading artists and designers to a broader audience. Currently, he is working on his first book, "Maude Goes Tiny," which was longlisted for The Deborah Rogers Foundation prize last year, and is preparing to launch his first card game, "A Monkey Eating a Lemon," in October 2024.
